Insight for the Week:

All of us struggle at times to manage a particular situation, circumstance, or person. The emotions arise within, we jump to conclusions, make rash decisions, and then wish we had bitten our tongue or acted differently. nThere is another way. A sure fire strategy that transforms these situations every time, solving problems and inspiring change.

“Life is a series of natural and spontaneous changes. Don’t resist them; that only creates sorrow. Let reality be reality. Let things flow naturally forward in whatever way they like.” – Lao Tzu

If you want to transform any situation for the better, make good decisions, and take the right action, then follow this 3-step approach: 1) Acceptance – As a client said to me recently, “Acceptance is the only way to remove resistance and stay present.” 2)Respond creatively – Now you are able to enter into the situation and respond to it, instead of react. 3)Transform it – Being clear and creative, you can add value and take the right action.

This is transformational leadership of yourself and others. You lead yourself with dignity, mastering your emotions and being a role model of what is possible.

This enables you to transform situations, leading people through inspiration. The degree you accept situations, circumstances, and people as they are will be to the degree that you can add value and lead.
When you feel the resistance inside and those emotions arising, take a deep breath and repeat to yourself I accept things as they are not as I wish them to be.

Then take responsibility (the ability to respond) and transform it for the good of all.
“Whenever I am in a difficult situation where there seems to be no way out, I think about all the times I have been in such situations and say to myself, “I did it before, so I can do it again.”
